  • FOX Is Pursuing Cowboys TE Jason Witten For Thursday Night Football Analyst Job

Despite still being under contract with the Dallas Cowboys as their starting tight end, FOX Sports is reportedly trying to pursue the 11-time Pro Bowl tight end to serve as a television analyst in 2018.

According to Michael McCarthy of Sporting News, Fox Sports wants Witten to become the network’s analyst for Thursday Night Football in 2018 if Peyton Manning doesn’t accept the network’s offer.

Last season, CBS Sports signed former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo after he retired from the NFL in April of 2017.  However, Witten has made no indication that he’s ready to retire from the game.

In fact, after the team’s season final game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Witten told reporters that he was coming back:

“I’M COMING BACK. I LOVE PLAYING THIS GAME TOO MUCH AND I KNOW THAT I CAN PLAY IT AT A HIGH LEVEL.”

The 35-year-old has only missed one game in his 15-year NFL career and has racked up 1,152 receptions for 12,448 yards.

Dennis Wright As a Cowboys fan I love Witten. I even have a box of his cereal. However, he is old and slow and cannot stretch the defense any longer. Retire so we can get a younger tight end to do those things, and you can actually reteam with Romo in the booth.

Brandon Kirkland He’s gone! You don’t turn down a lead analyst job on national television. It’s not like we’re going to the Super Bowl anytime soon lol. He might as well go!

Justin Freeman take it. you’re lucky if you don’t get cut anyways. i’m a cowboys fan but it’s true. one year left max anyways. take the job

Zach Mcclune Don't we have enough ex cowboys fans as it is I'd stop watching games at some point if this continues.

JE Bozarth If the ratings for this don't do better than last year he will do better selling used cars!
