    Left out of the College Football Playoffs, Ohio State will play in the Rose Bowl against Washington, and Urban Meyer will step down as coach of the Buckeyes after it.

    Offensive coordinator Ryan Day, will interim coached the Buckeyes during Meyer’s suspension earlier this season will take over the duties for the time being.

    Meyer has a black eye on his tenure as a Buckeye with the sexual assault scandal involving a close member of his coaching staff. Meyer was given a four game suspension for his role in the incident.

    Though there’s no direct reasoning from Meyer, sources indicate the the coach’s unhappiness with the state of the program is the reason for leaving with his health also being a factor.

    The 55-year-old began coaching the Buckeyes seven years ago after leaving the University of Florida.

    He’ll enter the Rose Bowl with a record of 186-32 (28th most wins by coach all-time) including four undefeated seasons, claiming two BCS titles at Florida and a College Football Playoff title with Ohio State.
